Nayagarh: Three days after the Commissionerate Police claimed to have cracked the Cuttack serial killings case with the arrest of suspect Narayan Sahoo from Odogaon in Nayagarh, his family members and villagers have alleged he has been framed.

Sahoo's wife Gitanjali and villagers met Nayagarh SP Dilip Sahani today and have submitted a written complaint alleging he has been framed by police after they failed to nab the actual accused.

As per the complaint, Sahoo was at his sister's home in Bhubaneswar on July 22 and had returned to his village Odogaon on July 23. As the killings had occured on July 22 and 23, they claimed his innocence.

After receiving their complaint, Nayagarh SP said that as the incident had occured in Cuttack details regarding the case is with the Cuttack Police. However, he assured to intimate Cuttack DCP about the allegations.

It is notable to mention here that three homeless labourers were murdered in Cuttack within two days, one person on July 22 and two others on July 23. The modus operandi, circumstances, nature of crime, weapons used and injuries suggested that a psychopath is behind the killings.

On verification of CCTV footage, it was ascertained that the prime suspect was Narayan Sahoo (35), who was staying in Cuttack over the last 2-3 months but had gone absconding on July 24.

A manhunt was launched to nab him and the Commissionerate Police was successful in apprehending him from his native place Odogaon in Nayagarh on Monday morning.
