Cuttack: At a time when the Cuttack District Education Officer (DEO) has directed to implement the “Mission Zero F”, so that not a single student will fail in the ensuing Annual HSC Examination 2019, students of MPL Girls' High School at Thoriasahi in Cuttack are struggling to attend the classes as the electricity supply to the school has been disconnected since last six months over Rs 14 Lakh arrear in power bill.

Reportedly, the electric bill of the school was issued in the name of Executive Officer, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) till 2004. It was in 2005 the school got its own connection and started payment of the dues.

While the school was paying the dues from the RMSA grant or from the amount received from the office of the DEO, the school already had an arrear of Rs 1.5 Lakh which has now escalated to approximately Rs 14 Lakh.

It was after the school headmistress Bishnupriya Das reported the matter to the DEO, he urged the Director of Secondary Education of Odisha to place an allotment of Rs 13.58 Lakh for payment of the dues for re-connection of electric line to the school.
