Cuttack SCB Gears Up For Jaga-Balia’s Return To Odisha, Forms Special Team

Cuttack: As Odisha Heath Department has decided to shift separated conjoined twins Jaga-Balia from Delhi AIIMS, SCB Medical College and Hospital authorities have swung into action. Accordingly, a six member special team has been formed.

This was informed today by SCB Emergency Medical Officer Dr. Bhubana Nanda Moharana who is also part of the team.

Dr. Moharana said, “While we have not received an official communiqué yet, SCB Superintendent ordered formation of the team to supervise the treatment of Jaga-Balia here. The twins are likely to arrive in next seven days.”

Dr. Moharana added that the committee’s main job is to decide where the separated conjoined twins will stay and under what department they will be placed. In an order released by the office of Superintendent, the EMO is asked to coordinate with the Administrative Officer for allocation of cabin for the twins.

Additionally, when the twins arrive, a Dietician might also be appointed who will look after the twins’ nutrition.

As per the order, the doctors who are part of the team are:

1.       Prof. Sudhanshu Mishra, HOD, Neurosurgery- Chairman

2.       Prof. J.N. Behera, HOD, Pediatrics- Member

3.       Prof. Ashok Mallick, HOD, Neurosurgery- Member

4.       Prof. K.C. Mohapatra, HOD, Surgery- Member

5.       Prof. Sanjib Mishra, Professor, Neurosurgery- Member

6.       Dr. B.N. Moharana, EMOMember
