Cuttack SCB Expansion: Eviction Continues For 4-Lane Road

Cuttack: In continuation with the eviction drive to acquire land for the expansion SCB Medical College and Hospital campus, shops from Malgodown Police station till Chunabhati Chak are being demolished.

Briefing the media, Cuttack Municipal Corporation’s Deputy Commissioner Abinash Sahu said, “A stretch of 300 metres is being evacuated today. About 40 street vendors are being relocated. They will be given new sites to set-up their shops and will be given relocation packages. The vendors have been fully cooperating.”

A 65-foot four-lane road is in plans where the eviction is being conducted. He added that the land under the Water Resources department has been duly marked. The quarters will be demolished and the residents will also be relocated soon.

The eviction drives for on the river bank for the mega SCB project is already underway. Around 500 plots on the riverbank near Jagatpur will be identified to rehabilitate the evicted slum dwellers.
