Cuttack Commissionerate Police Busts Burglary Gang, Gold, Silver Ornaments, Cash Recovered

Cuttack: In a major breakthrough, the sleuths of Commissionerate Police here in this millennium city apprehended a gang of burglars and have also recovered gold and silver ornaments from their possession besides other items and cash. Also the receivers of their stolen items have also been arrested.

Briefing media, Cuttack DCP Akhileshwar Singh informed, “Starting from CDA area to Markatnagar, Madhupatna, Badambadi, Chauliaganj, Jagatpur, Sadar areas houses were burgled. Today we have detected those thefts. All thieves are from Kendrapara. The prime accused persons are Mehboob and Sikander.”

“They have several accomplices. Also they have their receivers of their stolen items. Two receivers are from Mangalabag here in the city, one from Kendrapara, two receivers from Jajpur have also been arrested,” he further informed.

He also informed, “Total stolen gold ornaments recovered from their possession weigh about 330 grams and about 3 kg of silver ornaments. They had also stolen a costly camera (Nickon) that has also been recovered. Besides, about Rs 30,000 cash has also been recovered.”

As per a press note, one red colour Swift Dzire car nearing No OR 29 BW 3300, house breaking articles like crowbar, screw driver, hammer, array blade have also been seized.

The police hit upon this gang while investigating into the Markatnagar PS Case No 146, Dtd 22.09.2018 registered under Sections 454/380 IPC while the complainant was Cuttack 1st Court Senior Civil Judge Hara Prasad Pattanaik. He in his FIR alleged that on 22.09.2018 at about 5.30 pm while he returned home at D/2, Sector-9, CDA, he found that Rs 50,000 cash has been thieved by breaking open the grill.

During course of investigation, it was ascertained that Sk Sikander, Sk Mehboob, Babu, Tofani, Sajid and Anil all from Kendrapara had committed the crime in CDA as well as many places of Cuttack city, Salepur, Jagatsinghpur and Bhubaneswar in the recent past and had disposed of the stolen articles to different persons.

The accused persons were committing the crime by using the Swift Dzire car and were escaping in the same vehicle.
