Cuttack BSNL Fire Mishap: Connection To Banks To Be Restored Within 24 Hours

Cuttack: A day after a major fire broke out at Telephone Bhawan at Bajrakabati road here, Harish Mohanty, Principle General Manager, Cuttack Telecom District asserted that the restoration work is going on swiftly.

The Cuttack Telecom District covers districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, and Kendrapada. Mohanty said, “Landline, mobile, broadband, lease line services have been affected in these districts. Additionally, services were disrupted in Balasore, Baripada, and Keonjhar districts as they were dependent on Cuttack Telecom District. However, the services were diverted and have now been restored.”

He added that, “Long-distance communication routes have been restored. For the sake of precaution, power supply is not yet reconnected. We are using diesel engines to connect and test services.”

When asked what is the target to be achieved in next 24 hours, Mohanty said, “ Apart from mobile and landline coverage in certain areas, FTTH, broadband, lease line services will be restored. On a priority basis, connectivity for all banks will be restored.”

Apart from the city of Cuttack, attempts are being made to restore BSNL’s services in the rest of the three districts of Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, and Kendrapada.
