Bhubaneswar: Credible reporting by OMMCOM NEWS team on murder case in Bhubaneswar has helped in rubbishing a fake social media campaign which was giving a communal colour to the incident. The case relates to the murder of Amaresh Nayak of Sunderpada who was hacked to death by his opponents on Sunday while Diwali celebrations were on.
While Nayak was attacked by a local group after an argument over lighting firecrackers, the matter was falsely interpreted on social media. Nayak was hacked because of a trivial issue but the fake news factory presented it as a communal violence (murder).
Alt NEWS, recognised for its analysis of fake news quoted and referred to the reportage of OMMCOM NEWS and dismissed any communal angle into this case.
While the hate mongers circulated on social media that Nayak was murdered because people from a particular community were opposed to bursting crackers, DCP Bhubaneswar, Anup Sahoo clarified that it was a case of group clash which turned out to be fatal.
Alt NEWS also posted the sound byte of the DCP recorded and published by OMMCOM NEWS, a day after the incident. “All the accused have been identified. There is no communal angle at all. The victim and the accused belong to the same community," the DCP said.
