Bhubaneswar: Considering the prevailing health conditions in the urban areas of the State due to novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the State Housing and Urban Development (H & UD) department today ordered the release of Rs 21.10 crore in favour of 114 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to take preventive measures towards containment of the virus.
In a letter to the Additional Director of State Urban Development Agency (SUDA), Joint Secretary to Government of Odisha Durga Prasad Mohapatra asked to sanction and release the said amount.
He added that the expenditure of the funds is subject to following conditions:
Funds to the tune of Rs 10 lakhs and Rs 25 lakhs are sanctioned in favour of NACs and Municipalities respectively.
Funds to the tune of Rs 50 lakhs are sanctioned in favour of CMC, Cuttack, BeMC, Berhampur, RMC, Rourkela and SMC, Sambalpur.
Funds to the tune of Rs 1 crore is sanctioned in favour of BMC, Bhubaneswar.
The utilization of grants should be strictly in conformity with instructions of H & UD department and advisories issued by Health and Family Welfare department relating to COVID-19
The amount sanctioned herein shall not be diverted under any circumstances to any other purpose without prior permission of H & UD Department.
The amount released in favour of ULB is subject to test check by CAG, Government of India or his authorized agency at his discretion and inspection audit by internal audit organization.
