COVID-19 In Odisha: Commissionerate Police Stops Issuing 'Passes' To Check Congregation

Bhubaneswar: In view of the crowding which led to breach of social distancing norms, Twin City police today cancelled the process of issuin passess. Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said that people who are engaged in emergencey services can show their ID cards to the enforcement / police personnel at guard on Twin City roads.

He said that the Commissionerate of Police is working on an IT Platform for issuance of vehicle passes. This would be functional by Wednesday.

"We are cancelling process of issuing passes to emergency workers as too many people are congregating and social distance cannot be maintained. Please use your I Card for the moment. We will introduce an IT Platform by tomorrow to automate the process of issue of vehicle passes," Sarangi Tweeted

"For citizens who need to travel because of medical or other emergencies are being allowed to move around if there is a patient or medical papers. Don’t panic and congregate near Police Offices. No passes are being issued to anyone. Show your medical papers. That’s enough," Sarangi added.
