COVID-19: Anganwadis In Odisha To Remain Shut Till April 30

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today announced to extend shutdown of Anganwadi Centres in the State till April 30 instead of March 31 as announced earlier in wake of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

"Earlier beneficiaries used to visit Anganwadi Centres now Anganwadi Centre will visit the beneficiary's home. Orders have been issued to keep Anganwadi Centres shut till April 30 instead of the earlier announced March 31," informed State government's Chief spokesperson on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi addressing the scheduled presser on coronavirus preparedness, monitoring etc held at the Geeta Govinda Sadan here today.

Bagchi said Take Home Ration (THR) like chhatua, ladoo, dry food for six-month to three-year old children, pregnant and lactating mothers will be delivered at their homes by Anganwadi worker and her assistant, he added.

Dry food against breakfast and cooked mid-day meals will be also provided for pre-school students at their homes; he informed and added that eggs will be delivered at their homes every week to all beneficiaries covered under the Anganwadi scheme. 

Bagchi stated that Anganwadi workers, their assistants, SHGs engaged in preparing chhatua will maintain social distancing protocol and added that directives have been issued to them in this regard.
