Bhubaneswar: A day after some miscreants attacked police personnel inside Saheed Nagar Police Station here, Twin City Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said that such criminal activities will not be tolerated.

Briefing mediapersons, Mohanty said, "The miscreants involved in the incident have been identified from CCTV footage and investigation made. Stringent police action will be taken against all the accused."

Reportedly, on Sunday night a group of miscreants attempted to enter the Saheed Nagar Police Station to attack three persons detained in connection with a road accident case near VSS Nagar.

When staff present at the police station tried to stop the attackers, they thrashed police and also hurled stones on them injuring four police officials including the Inspector In-Charge (IIC) and Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI). The miscreants also ransacked the police station.

The injured ASI Abhaya Kumar Rout said, "We had detained three persons after receiving an FIR in a road accident case. But, some miscreants led by one Prakash Tripathy from VSS Nagar wanted to attack them. When we protested, they started hurling stones on us. I tried to dodge, but was hit on the head."

While the injured cops were rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment, police have detained six persons in connection with the attack.
