28 April 2019

Kandhamal: Twenty-four hours before fourth and final phase polls in Odisha, the red rebels have cropped up violence again. A contractor was shot dead by Maoists at Damangpadar village under Phiringia Police limits on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Kailash Digal (40). Reports stated that he was shot dead allegedly by the Maoists after being called from home late last night.

Maoist posters have been recovered from the spot that have mentioned CPI Maoist Kandhmal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh division in them. The red rebels have also stated that they killed Kailash as he was a police informer.

It is notable to mention here that a woman polling official had been gunned down by the Maoists a day before second phase polls i.e. April 17 under Gochhapada police limits.
