Bhubaneswar: Conjoined twins Jaga-Balia are likely to be shifted from AIIMS Delhi to SCB Cuttack soon.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das today said that the State Government under the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, was committed to offer the best treatment to the conjoined twins from Kandhamal district.

"AIIMS Delhi had recommended that the duo be treated at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, but the latter refused to admit them. Now we have taken a decision to shift Jaga and Balia to SCB Medical College and Hospital where they will undergo any further treatment," Das said.

The craniopagus conjoined twins hailing from Milipada village in Kandhamal district were separated by a team of doctors after a 21-hour-long surgery in October last year. Their parents had urged the State Government to facilitate Jaga Balia's transfer to a hospital in Odisha.
