Commissionerate Police To Take 'Golden Baba' On Remand

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has moved the court to take arrested fraudster Jyoti Ranjan Beura alias ‘Golden Baba’ on remand, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo on Wednesday.

A manhunt had been launched after a case was registered against him at Chandrasekharpur police station on December 7, 2018. He had duped a person of Rs 110 crore on pretext of sanctioning loans from finance companies.

The incident came to light after a cheque issued by him bounced and further the bank detected forgery in the second cheque issued by him and blocked the payment.

Following this, Chandrasekharpur Police arrested the Golden Baba on Monday. He has been booked and forwarded to court under sections 467, 468, 471, 420 and 511 of the IPC.

The DCP said the Golden Baba's involvement in other cases is being examined and will be interrogated further once brought on remand.
