Bhubaneswar: Durga Puja festival is in its last leg and is approaching completion. While the revellers and devotees are slightly disheartened to see the Puja season concluding, the Twin City police has geared up for the smooth conduct of the Visarjan (immersion ceremony) today evening.

Satyajit Mohanty, Commissioner of Police said, “There are three bridges connecting Bhubaneswar to Cuttack. The Visarjan idols will go on the oldest bridge so no cars will be allowed on that. The middle bridge can be exclusively opened for light vehicles like cars and two-wheelers that want to go to Cuttack and this will also be very helpful in future.”

“Old town and Mausima temple zone, Janpath area and Cuttack Road are the three vulnerable zones and heavy traffic is expected in those areas. Along with that the National Highway might also witness stand-still traffic,” Mohanty added.

On October 18, DCP Anup Sahoo had said that three immersion routes have been finalized with adequate deployment of police forces.

Meanwhile, the Durga Puja committees are slowly packing up the pandals and are mounting up the idols on tractors to prepare for the immersion.
