Commissionerate Police Nabs Auto Driver Involved In Illegal Trade Of Firearms

Bhubaneswar: An auto-rickshaw driver allegedly involved in illegal trade of firearms and ammunitions was held by Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar today.

Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo said, "Khandagiri Police detained an auto rickshaw driver who was found in possession of a country-made pistol and three rounds of live bullets."

A case has been registered under Section 25 of the Arms Act. The accused has been arrested and will be forwarded to court. Police is further trying to ascertain from where he procured the firearms and who others are involved with him, Sahoo added.

As per sources, the accused identified as Mustak Ali Khan carries passengers and illegally deals with firearms in the day and commits loot or dacoity in the night.

On getting information, Khandagiri Police conducted a raid and nabbed Mustak at Gandamunda area of the capital city here. While he is a native of Pipili in Puri district, there are various cases registered against him at different police stations.
