Bhubaneswar: Taking to Twitter, the Commissionerate Police on Monday issued an advisory on speed limits applicable within their jurisdiction. The tweet also urged twin city denizens to follow these diligently.
The speed limits as per the tweet are:
* Light and Heavy Vehicles: 50 KMPH, except on National Highway (NH) from Palasuni to Balikuda, where the speed limit is 70 KMPH
* For two- wheelers: 50 KMPH
The Commissionerate Police requested all drivers to follow these rules or face action.

The tweet received mixed reactions from Twitterati with some welcoming the decision and at the same time, there were several who requested to increase the maximum speed limit for two-wheelers.
The three-month relaxation period for implementation of the amended Motor Vehicles Act ended on November 30 and even though the next three months have been softened for necessary documents, the one’s flouting life-threatening rules will be prosecuted.
