Bhubaneswar: With All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Rahul Gandhi visiting Odisha on January 25 to address a public meeting at Tomando mini stadium in Bhubaneswar, a team of Commissionerate Police visited the venue today to conduct preliminary security assessment.

Briefing mediapersons, Additional Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Singh said, "We have arrived at the ground to conduct preliminary assessment after which we will talk with the organiser. We will give him some suggestions and instructions. The amount of police force to be deployed will be decided after the assessment."

Singh also informed that the AICC has not shared any details regarding the programme schedule of Rahul. Security arrangements will be finalised after receiving the detailed information. Rahul is highly protected by the Special Protection Group (SPG) and analysing his threat perception, the Commissionerate Police will be carrying out the security arrangements in and around the venue, he added.

Answering media queries on the security concerns if Rahul breaks protocol and reaches out to public directly, Singh said security at close proximity is the responsibility of the SPG. Local police will take care of outer security.
