Ganjam: In a bid to attract more tourists to Gopalpur, the district administration has begun 'MO Gopalpur' initiative that aims at making the beach and its surroundings clean  and tidy. Under this intiative, a cultural evening will also be organised every Sunday evening for the tourists to experience the rich heritage of Odisha.

Taking the first step, Ganjam Collector Bijay Amrut Kulange, Member of Parliament Chandra Sekhar Sahu, MLAs Bikram Panda, Subas Behera, along with Additional Collector, NAC officials and students took up a massive beach clean-up drive on Friday.

They picked up all plastic and polythene materials from the beach to help spread awareness about maintaining cleanliness and keeping the area a 'No Plastic Zone'. Kulange said, "The 'Mo Gopalpur' initiative is primarily based on teamwork. We want to ensure the people from the community ensure that the beach is clean. Every Sunday, we will also hold cultural evening."

"Along with this, we are also starting the 'Mu Nibedan' initiative in which BDO, tehsildar will go to blocks and hear the grievances at field visits. They will also make people aware of all Odisha Government schemes," he added.
