Balasore: Fire broke out in a wagon of a coal-laden train which was on its way from Paradip to Haldia. The incident took place when the train had halted at Bahanaga Bazar railway station in Balasore district.

Two teams from Soro fire station were rushed to contain the fire. The efforts of the fire services personnel were hindered due to rain, said sources. However, the prompt response of firemen averted a major mishap.

The coal-laden freight train had 58 wagons. An inquiry has been ordered by local railway authorities to ascertain the cause of the fire. This is the second incident of a goods train catching fire this month. On June 10, fire broke out in coal-laden train at Soro railway station.
