Kandhamal: In a shocking incident, a girl student of a residential school in Daringbadi area here allegedly delivered a baby in the hostel premises following which irate locals protested the incident and blocked the National Highway-59 demanding an inquiry and immediate arrest of the accused.

In view of the tension, local police has rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. The incident has taken place under Baliguda police station. Vehicular movement along Daringbadi and Berhampur stretch was adversely affected due to the blockade.

On the other hand, the headmistress of the school was questioned in this connection and has also been served a show cause notice.
