Bhubaneswar: An amount of Rs 4.86 crores was collected and power supply to 1622 commercial consumers was disconnected on the third day of Arrear Collection-cum-Disconnection Drive by CESU on Saturday.

In the first three days of the drive, CESU has collected a whopping Rs 14.91 crore of arrear amount and total 5123 disconnections have taken place. The drive peacefully continued for the 3rd day from 9 AM to 5 PM in all the 20 Divisions of CESU. In the interest of consumers, the CESU officers and staff have decided to work on Sunday tomorrow.

Today, 480 Special Disconnection Squads operated in 247 Sections and reached the premises of 10,805 defaulting commercial establishments. Like first two days of drive, majority of defaulting consumers came forward to clear their dues in part or full.

As many as 1622 Commercial consumers did not clear their arrear dues even-after the requests made by the CESU Officials. Hence power disconnection to the premises of these commercial consumers was undertaken.

The amount collected today does not include the online payments made by the consumers. Further, CESU has received applications for bill revision of 2410 Consumers and 5387 consumers have submitted their request for making installment payments.

As usual, the collection counters were opened from early morning to till late evening today also. A good number of consumers came for paying their bills at collection counters at various Sections, Sub-Divisions and Division Offices. A sizeable number of consumers also came to CESU Office requesting to revise their bills.

Today at Chhatia Bazar, the special squad traced 14 unauthorised power consuming establishments and they have been converted to regular customers after payments.

CESU once again expresses its sincere thanks to 6773 commercial consumers who had cleared their arrear dues on 18.01.2020 in full or part. CESU is also pleased to announce that commercial consumers of Electrical Section, CDA, Cuttack, Bidanasi, Cuttack & Unit-6, Bhubaneswar, have cleared their arrear dues in full on the 3rd day of the drive.

Authorities of CESU have appealed the remaining defaulting consumers to clear their arrear dues tomorrow i.e, 19.01.2020 (Sunday), so that CESU would not be forced to disconnect the power supply of their premises.
