Jharsuguda: Inaugurating and laying foundation stones for a slew of projects worth Rs 618.66 crore in this industry-dotted district today, BJD president and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik once again launched a scathing attack on the Centre’s neglect.

Addressing a public meeting at Amlipali Field here soon after the official programmes, the regional satrap burst, “Earlier you were all witnessing a video here. I have raised nine points relating to Centre’s neglect in the video. This neglect won’t be tolerated anymore.”

Taking a dig at the Centre, he stated, “Today I would like to apprise you about three issues. The new airport of Jharsuguda was inaugurated a few days back amid heavy publicity and advertisement. But, the airport is blank. The flight didn’t operate. I had told that Odisha Government will support funds for the flight operations. But of no avail.”

“If not the flight operation, kindly provide Jharsuguda with a Satabdi Express. I have demanded before the Centre to facilitate that to run between Bhubaneswar and Rourkela via Jharsuguda. Let’s see what happens,” he lampooned.

He also lambasted, “This area is bestowed with ample coal mines. I have very often demanded for hiking the coal royalty. Decision will be taken within five minutes was the assurance given. But, nothing has materialized since 2015 till date. Odisha is losing crores of rupees. Who will compensate this heavy loss?”

“Hence, you all consider what steps we are taking for the development of Odisha,” the Chief Minister asked the people.

He also raised the Mahanadi issue and tried to put the Centre in the dock.
