Puri: The Central Team today visited Puri district for the second time since it has been worst-affected by the severe cyclonic storm FANI that had its landfall on May 3 and has left behind trails of devastation.
The 11-member team today made field visits to Harekrushnapur, Biragobindapur, Satyabadi and also inspected the damaged coconut farming in Sakhigopal.
As per the composition of the 11-member Inter-Ministerial Central Team, Union Home Affairs Additional Secretary (PM) Vivek Bhardwaj is the team leader.
As per the itinerary, the Central Team reached Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) here yesterday afternoon while today they made on the spot assessment of damages in the district. Later, they held discussion with Puri Collector and other district level officers before returning to Bhubaneswar.
They are to hold an important meeting with the Odisha Chief Secretary and other Secretaries of different departments at the State Secretariat at about 6 pm.
The Central Team had earlier visited the district led by Bhardwaj soon after the ravaging disaster then and after the Prime Minister’s aerial survey before the results of general elections were declared. Thus, the Central Team’s this visit can be the first one after the new government has been formed at the Centre.
