Central Team Meets Naveen After Assessing Cyclone Havoc

Bhubaneswar: The Power Grid Corporation of India will rebuild the 220 KV line between Puri and Atri and other Central Government companies will be assisting Odisha Government to install transmission and distribution lines in Fani affected areas, till May 31.

The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat on Monday.

Senior officials of the Union Power and Telecom Ministries present at the meeting, apprised the Chief Minister on the coordinated efforts of the central government companies and the different departments of the Odisha government.

Naveen stressed on expediting the process of rebuilding infrastructure in the affected areas and laying focus on cyclone-resistant infrastructure in the long run.

The central team, which is on a three-day visit to Odisha said that banking operations would be normal very soon as the telecom ministry is working on war-footing to make the banks functional in the affected areas. Voice calls will be enabled completely within next seven days in all the affected areas, the team said.

Among others, Chief Secretary, Union Power Secretary, Development Commissioner, Additional Secretary, Telecom Department, NTPC Chairman and PGCIL Chairman were present.
