Central Team Highly Praises Odisha Govt’s FANI Restoration Efforts, Assures Full Support

Bhubaneswar: Soon after the most significant meeting between Odisha Government and the Inter-Ministerial Team of the Centre for the on-the-spot assessment of damage caused by the recent severe cyclonic storm FANI, the Central Team was of high praise for the post cyclone restoration efforts undertaken and assured all sorts of support.

Briefing media at the State Secretariat here, Central Team leader-cum- Ministry of Home Affairs Additional Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj said, “Bharat Sarkar (Government of India) is with Odisha Sarkar (Government). It is for the first time a Central Team has visited to assess the loss within 10 days of the disaster.”

He informed, “Our teams have made field visits to various places in the last 2-3 days. We have come here with a big team to inspect. Puri has sustained extensive damage, be it houses or hotels or means of livelihood, power, water supply, etc. Also in Cuttack there are damages caused to houses, betel vines, coconut palms, all sorts of public infrastructure.”

“The way and momentum the State Government has expedited its efforts for the restoration works, it is highly praiseworthy. Wherever we visited, we were apprised that the affected people have received immediate relief, be it food materials or rice, or funds, adhoc shelter arrangements, etc. All these have been done by the State Government speedily. The Government is also on its efforts whatever future course of action to be done,” remarked the Central Team leader.

He further assured, “We’ll support the Odisha Government, be it for power network or strengthening MGNREGS for livelihood, etc. The Central Government will fully support the State Government in all these sectors.”
