Bhubaneswar: As Central Board of Secondary Education hiked the examination fees for Class X and XII Board examination for both general and SC/ST students, the State-level Parents Organization wrote to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking his intervention in the matter.
The letter states, "We parents strongly opposed CBSE's decision to increase the fees for Class X and XII Board examination of both general as well as SC & ST category students. The exam fee has been hiked by 24 times in case of SC & ST Students. It was Rs. 50 last year but now it is Rs. 1200. In case of General category students, Rs. 750 has been doubled to Rs. 1500.00. A late fee of Rs 2000 has also been imposed."
"We request you to write a letter to HRD Minister for his intervention and order CBSE to withdraw this arbitrary increase of examination fee," the letter concludes.
Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha (Parents Organization) has also requested Minister of School & Mass Education Samir Ranjan Dash and all MPs from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to oppose the increase examination fee by CBSE.
