Sundergarh: A mentally sick man committed suicide in full public view by jumping from a two-storeyed building here on Friday. The spine-chilling incident took place at Duduka village under Hemgir police limits.

The deceased was identified as Siba Chandan, a middle-aged man who was suffering from mental disorders, said sources. Siba climbed up the building and threatened to commit suicide. On receiving the information, local police and fire services personnel rushed to the spot.

However, the public, police and fire services personnel were mute spectators to the live demonstration of this heart-wrenching act. Siba jumped off the building within a few minutes.

He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the local hospital where Siba was declared dead. Police have registered a case and sent his body for autopsy.
