Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Wednesday moved the Election Commission demanding watch and ward on gas agencies and petrol pump owners in Odisha.

The BJD alleged that the petrol pump owners are acting at the behest of BJP to facilitate movement of cash across districts.

BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said, "On 26th March, Rs 2 lakh was seized from a car at Guderpalli in Bargarh. The vehicle from which the cash was seized belonged to Sanjeev Mohapatra, a petrol pump owner from Sohela in Bargarh district."

"He is a supporter of BJP candidate from Bijepur Sanat Gadtia. Besides, BJP flags were also seized from the vehicles. This corroborates our allegations," Patra said.

The BJD demanded 24-hour CCTV surveilance at every petrol pump which should be recorded and made available to the Chief Electoral Officer on need basis.
