Bhubaneswar: Members of the Muslim community accompanied by practitioners of other faiths including Hindus carried out a peaceful rally here protesting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) today.
The protestors holding black ribbons marched from the Satya Nagar Masjid demanding revocation of the CAA. The peace rally by silent marchers culminate near Sishu Bhavan Square. Finally, the protestors assembled at Lower PMG and raised slogans against CAA.
Later the protester submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and sought his support for their agitation. “We condemn CAA and demand that it must be revoked. We respect the Constitution and will protect its sanctity forever,” said Sayad Naquibul Amin Barki, General Secretary Jamiat-Ulama-i-Odisha.
“We urge the Chief Minister to oppose the CAA and support our movement. Our silent protests will continue againt CAA in different parts of the State,” Barki added.
