Bhubaneswar: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati today kick-started her poll campaign from Bhubaneswar. She attacked the Congress and the BJP alleging that their misrule at the Centre and States has led to poverty, unemployment and corruption.

"After independence in Centre the power was with Congress and later the power shifted to BJP. Their governance was complemented with flawed policies. Congress suffered and was ousted due to its mis-governance laced with corruption. And now the BJP will meet the same fate for its communal politics," the BSP president said.

"The Bofors scam during the Congress regime and the Rafale scam during the BJP regime shows that both these parties do not have any interest in strengthening our security forces," she added.

Mayawati blamed Modi government for implementing GST and demonetization in haste which affected small businesses; that also led to increase in unemployment, she said.
