Brahma Parivartan Fiasco: SJTA Chief Issues Notice To 8 Daitapatis & 1 Maharana

14 January 2019

Puri: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Pradipta Mohapatra issued a show-cause notice to nine servitors including eight Daitapatis and one Maharana for their alleged involvement in Brahma Parivartan fiasco during the Nabakalebra festival in 2015.

The notice has been issued to Naba Kishore Mohapatra, Biswanath Das Mohapatra, Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Kasinath Das Mohapatra and Jayakrushna Das Mohapatra, who had been earlier issued a show-cause notice on November 14, 2018. Along with the new notice, they have also been charge-sheeted under section 21(a) of the Srimandir Act.

The charge-sheet comprises three charges for the inordinate delay in 'Ghata Parivartan' ritual in 2015. Despite the ban, the servitors had trespassed into the secret chamber where the classified ritual was being solemnized.

The servitors have been asked to show cause and submit a written deposition with the SJTA chief administrator within 15 days.
