Bhubaneswar: As the heavy rainfall recently played havoc chiefly on the agricultural activities in Odisha, State Revenue and Disaster Management (R&DM) Minister today informed that Bolangir has been worst affected.

He also informed that relief measures were immediately taken as the concerned District Collectors have been empowered to take prompt action during the exigency.

Interacting with media, R&DM Minister Sudam Marndi said, “Whenever there is flood or cyclone, day by day report is received by the State Administration. We immediately take the necessary steps.”

He informed, “Every day rainfall report is received from the districts. The Collector concerned immediately report our State Control Room on the situation and also about the people and areas affected. Accordingly, the Collectors have been vested with the power for immediate distribution of relief materials to the affected people.”

Responding to the media query, the Minister stated, “Bolangir was the worst affected in the recent flood.”

Notably, the State Special Relief Commissioner (SRC)’s office has earlier informed that the recent rainfall has affected 14 districts in Odisha while 14 blocks and 1,763 villages in Bolangir district have been affected. Two lakh people have been affected by it.
