Bhubaneswar:  As the city is busy in picking up the shreds and rebuilding itself, the workers of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) are tirelessly working to clear the widespread debris created by the cyclone FANI. With their dedicated hard work, the roads are almost clear of the debris, which makes it easy for proper transportation and distribution of relief materials.

Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, one of the BMC worker named Chhabi Nayak said, “Our houses are also broken. But the city is also in shreds. It is our duty to clear up the debris and make the city clean. We are trying our best to clear up the damage which had make Bhubaneswar beyond recognition.”

“We complete our household chores very early in the morning and start to clean the city. We have been always doing it, though it is tough this time as the cyclone has damaged our homes also. But we have to do it for all the denizens of the city,” clarifies Saraswati, another BMC worker.

They start their duty from early in the morning and work through the sun, taking out the broken branches from the mangled electric wires and cables and sweeping the roads clean, so that people can carry on their normal chores smoothly on a daily basis.

These unsung heroes are doing their bit to restore normalcy and make the city clean once again, as the entire green cover was damaged beyond recognition following the attack of severe cyclonic storm Fani, on May 3.
