Bhubaneswar: With denizens of the capital city experiencing heatwave like conditions from the mid of February this year, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is pulling up its sleeves to counter the situation.

Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, BMC Commissioner Samarth Verma said that measures adopted every year will be repeated. Last year, different NGOs and associations had opened 88 “Jala Chhatras” or free water kiosks and arrangements like water ATMs and RO plants had also been set up.

A meeting with all the NGOs and associations will be held at 4 PM tomorrow in the BMC office, where the locations for setting drinking water facilities this year will be decided, he added.

Verma further said that the water ATMs which are lying dysfunctional will be restored immediately and will also ensure the increase in number of "Jala Chhatras" if needed.
