Bhubaneswar: It has been over six months the Commissionerate Police identified five accident black spots on Bhubaneswar-Cuttack National Highway, but the spots still remain vulnerable to road mishaps.

While RTO Bhubaneswar II Sanjay Behera had on June 22 last year said that the Transport Department will ensure display of signages on the vulnerable spots to check the increasing number of road accidents, the same is still to be implemented properly.

As per the data with the State transport department, road accident fatalities shot up by 7.6 per cent in the first nine months of 2019 in comparison to last year i.e. from 3826 to 4115.

State Transport Minister Padmanav Behera said that the installation of signages at black spots is an ongoing process and the State has sought additional funds from the Centre to upgrade the required infrastructure to check road accidents.
