Bhubaneswar: Members of the Odisha BJP Mahila Morcha, held a demonstration in the Capital City on Monday over women's security in the State.
As a mark of protest, the groups held placards, banners and red bangles collected from various parts of the state. The scene turned worse when the agitators were involved in a scuffle with the police personnel at Lower PMG area.
Two groups of the rally were blocked by the police while they were marching towards the Secretariat and Naveen Nivas. More than two dozen BJP workers courted arrest during the rally.
The protestors objected the acquittal of the principal accused in the Pipili gang rape and murder case. While the womens' leaders alleged police excesses, the cops took them into preventive custody before they could cross the AG Square.
