BJP-Led Centre Crippled Middle-Class Economy, Failed To Create Jobs: Rahul Gandhi

25 January 2019

Bhubaneswar: The BJP-led Government has failed in creating jobs for youths of India and imposed ill-conceived policies such as the demonitisation onto the middle class and lower middle class, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said here on Friday.

Addressing a group of intellectuals and journalists before the public rally, Rahul said that the production capacity of India has not seen any major change since the BJP-led NDA has taken over.

"China creates 50,000 jobs in 24 hours. How many jobs does India produce in a day. Unless India enters into a production and export cycle and manufactures products in large-scale, job creation in India will not improve," Rahul said.

"MNREGA is one of the largest and most comprehensive job-creating programmes in the world. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi prefers to criticise it as 'ditch-digging' scheme," added Rahul.

The Congress president slammed the BJP for having ignored and not strengthening the right to information (RTI).

"The BJP Government has systematically controlled and interfered into Institutions such as the CBI and RBI. Besides, it has conveniently ignored the RTI and Lokpal," said Rahul while taking on questions from the members of the audience.
