BJP Leader & Former MLA Jitu Mitra Joins BJD

Khurda: BJP leader and former MLA of Khurda Jyotindranath Mitra (Jitu Mitra) joined BJD today at Naveen Niwas in presence of BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

On the occasion of joining program, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, "I am glad that Jitu Mitra has returned to the Biju Janata Dal. His joining will further strengthen the party. I welcome him back."

Prominent among others, Khurda District BJD president Bibhuti Balbantray was also present at Naveen Niwas in Bhubaneswar during the party joining occasion.

Notably, Jitu Mitra earlier remained in BJD but had resigned as he was not given BJD ticket for Khurda assembly seat in the general elections of 2014. Taking umbrage, he had switched over to BJP.

Jitu had been elected to the 12th Assembly as an Independent candidate while got re-elected to the 13th Assembly as a BJD ticket holder.
