Bhubaneswar: While the Election Commission of India is expected to announce the dates of forthcoming general elections (both Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly) in the first week of March, ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today confidently affirmed that his party will fare tremendously well.

On being queried by the media today at the State Secretariat, Naveen Patnaik said, “I am sure that the Biju Janata Dal will do extremely well in the forthcoming elections.”

While the last general elections were held in 2014, its elected Odisha Assembly will end on June 11 this year.

Naveen Patnaik’s confident statement today comes in the wake of the recent poll survey made by the leading newspaper Deccan Herald. The survey has revealed that Naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has an ‘iron grip on power’ and he is ‘all set to seek a fifth term’ as Chief Minister of Odisha.

Notably, Naveen Patnaik has been the Chief Minister of Odisha consecutively for the fourth time since 2000.
