Bhubaneswar: Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha was slammed by BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra for advocating a 'double engine' government during a presser of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Patra termed Sinha's statement as unfortunate and condemnable and against the federal system of government. He also criticized the State BJP for not apprising the Union Minister how despite the support given by Odisha Government, no action has been taken by the BJP-led Central Government towards various projects in Odisha.

Earlier in the press meet, Sinha had stressed the need for a 'double-engine' government and said the people of Odisha will get the full benefit of the central government's schemes only with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre as well as the state.

He further accused the Biju Janata Dal-led Odisha government did not believe in cooperative federalism and several development projects have been affected in Odisha due to the lack of support form the state government.

To which Patra questioned why has the Central Government not being able to complete projects such as coastal highway, second bridge over Brahmani River and upgradation of Ispat General Hospital despite all the support given by State Government.
