Bhubaneswar: Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today refuted the allegation of its political bête noire Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as it alleged that Odisha Government has not been able to implement the MoUs inked with various companies during Make in Odisha-2016.

Convening a press meet today ahead of the mega event beginning from tomorrow here, Odisha BJP general secretary Bhrugu Buxipatra said, “The whole process exhibits event management of the State Government. Such an event had taken place in 2016. The State Government showed off investment opportunity. Rs 21 crore was expended on Make in Odisha 2016. The Central Government had also helped then the State Government with over Rs 10 crore. But what has been the result?”

“Out of the total MoUs signed then for full investment, only 8% MoUs have been converted to execution. Nine projects have been commissioned while 22 projects have withdrawn,” he lambasted.

On the contrary, Odisha Industry Minister Ananta Das countered, “Odisha Government is spending the money on this programme duly laying budgetary provision. BJP is intolerant towards Odisha’s development. Let them tolerate and see what is happening.”

“BJP was holding the Industry portfolio in Odisha for nine years from 2000 to 2009 and a stalwart was the Industry Minister. The Minister could have done then. There is hell and heaven difference between word and action,” hit back the incumbent Odisha Industry Minister.

Also BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra fumed, “BJP has turned to be habitually blaming everything. Every morning of BJP begins with some sorts of blamegame or else they feel ill at ease with their politicking. It’s extremely unfortunate.”

He further fumed, “So far Make in Odisha is concerned, their (BJP) jealousness is vividly seen. The intent amounting to Rs 2 lakh crore that had come during the 2016 Make in Odisha, 65% has been executed at various stages by the State Government. It has been corroborated by the Industry Secretary.”

“Naveen Babu believes in action not words. Is the BJP unable to perceive this? What for the business tycoons like Ambani, Adani, Tata, Birla, et al are coming over to Odisha to attend the event? It is because a cordial industrial environment is being built in Odisha. They all know that Odisha is developing and prospering. It’s all due to Naveen Babu,” he averred.
