Bhubaneswar: Demanding that the BJP-led Central Government should publish a list evincing the promised jobs provided to 35 lakh unemployed youths of Odisha in the last five years and also protesting the failure keeping the job promise made, ruling BJD today submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India through the Governor.

After creating noisy scenes in the Odisha Assembly highlighting this issue, the BJD MLAs marched out of the House in a rally to the Odisha Raj Bhavan and submitted the memorandum to Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal.

In his media reactions, senior BJD MLA Sanjay Das Burma said, “In 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured the country-wide youths of the country that two crore unemployed youths will be provided jobs every year. Accordingly, the figure is 10 crore in five years while Odisha’s share is proportionately 36 lakh unemployed youths. Hence, we are submitting today a memorandum to the President of India through the Governor.”

“We have demanded that the Central Government should come out with the list of 36 lakh youths of Odisha being employed in MCL, NALCO, IOCL, etc all the Centre-run PSUs,” the BJD leader stated. He also threatened, “The way the Centre has deceived the youths and labour force of Odisha, we will further intensify our state-wide stir in protest.”
