Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the ruling party in Odisha will be holding its triennial organizational elections in 33 organizational districts of the party in five phases starting from December 27 to February 26 next year.
Addressing a press conference on this account at the party's State headquarters here BJD's State Returning Officer (SRO) Pratap Keshari Deb said that District Returning Officers (DROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) have been appointed respectively for smooth conduct of organizational polls in 33 organizational districts and blocks and urban areas.
"Organizational election in our party is held in five phases. In the first phase, polls will be held for the appointment of gram panchayat unit president and 15 member committee in rural areas, likewise, in urban areas presidents and committee members will be elected in the first phase during December 27 to January 13, next year," informed Deb.
As per the schedule released by the party, in the second phase from January 14 to 29, elections will be held for electing block presidents and block committee members, NAC President and NAC committee members, municipality president, and municipality committee members, municipal corporation president and municipal corporation committee members.
In the third phase, from January 30 to February 15 elections will be held for electing district presidents and district committee members.
Similarly, in the fourth phase to be held from February 16 to February 18 elections will be held for electing members to the State Council.
Besides, in the fifth and the last phase from February 23 to February 26 elections will be conducted to elect State Executive Committee members and the State President.
The BJD had conducted its last organizational polls during December 2015 and February 2016.
