Biju Jayanti: PM Modi, Odisha CM Pay Homage To 'The Tall Man' Of Odisha

Bhubaneswar: It is the 103rd birth anniversary of 'Kalinga Sandha’-cum-legendary statesman Biju Patnaik (5 March, 1916 – 17 April, 1997) today and many political leader paid homage to him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Remembering Biju Babu on his Jayanti. His noteworthy efforts for Odisha’s development continue to be cherished by generations. He undertook numerous measures for empowerment of the poor and marginalised during his long years in public service."

Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik also took to Twitter and wrote, "I offer my tributes to the Hero of Odisha, freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of the State Biju Babu. He has inspired all classes of society and has contributed to education, textile and industry." He also paid floral tributes to Biju Babu's statue in Biju Patnaik Park.

Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has decided to launch its ‘Gharey Gharey Shankha: Matamata Diyanti Apana, Palana Karanti Naveen’ (Conch in every house: Opinion by you, Naveen complies) from today on this occasion.
