Bhubaneswar: Ex-MLA of Bijepur, Ashok Kumar Panigrahy, resigned from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday.

In a letter to the State President of BJP, Panigrahy stated the reason behind his resignation as negligence of party towards him.

Panigrahy's resignation came after BJP named Sanat Gartia as its candidate for the bypoll to the Bijepur Assembly seat in Odisha's Bargarh district.

Earlier this week, Panigrahy had accused the BJP of sidelining him and alleged of being not informed about or involved in party activities in the Bijepur Assembly segment.
