Bhubaneswar: Department of Justice under the Union Ministry of Law and Justice, today notified the appointment of Bibhu Prasad Routray as a Judge of the Orissa High Court.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Bibhu Prasad Routray, to be Judge of the Orissa High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," said the notification issued by the Department of Justice today.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended Routray's name by a resolution dated October 3.
As per the notification, his appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.
Routray is presently posted as a Judicial Officer at Berhampur.
Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Justice Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri will administer the oath of office to the Judge-designate tomorrow at 2 PM, High Court sources revealed.
With the appointment of Justice Routray, the working strength of the High Court will rise to 15 judges, as against a sanctioned strength of 27.
