In order to check this as well as make the traffic flow in a disciplined manner, we have started collecting fine from those violators from today onwards.”

He further informed, “Police Commissioner has convened a meeting on September 6. It is to be attended by officials from BMC, BDA, RTA, Works Department and Smart City Limited. Discussions will be held. In the days to come, stringent action will be taken against illegal parking of vehicles.”

“At present, Rs 500 is being collected as fine for illegal parking, plus towing charges. Towing charge depends on the area. We have also started using one more device called ‘wheel jammer/wheel lock’. Where we find a number of vehicles parked illegally and as we are unable to use same number of cranes for towing, we can use this device and detain those vehicles at a place,” the Additional Traffic DCP also informed.
