Bhubaneswar: The server at RTO office in Bhubaneswar experienced a malfunction on Wednesday as hundreds of applicants had gathered for driving licenses and new vehicle registrations.

With the introduction of enhanced penalties under Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2019, there has been a rush at RTO centres across State even though Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a relaxation on traffic enforcement for a period of three months.

In view of the rush, Transport Secretary G. Srinivas personally visited the Bhubaneswar RTO centre and took stock of the situation.

Addressing mediapersons, he said that while additional counters have been set and working hours of RTO office staff have been extended to expedite the process, efforts are on to further streamline the process to decrease the rush.
