Bhubaneswar: Motorists in Odisha's Capital City beware! The Commissionerate Police is all set to target especially motorists indulging in wrong side driving.
Wrong side driving, which has turned out to be a major headache for the police in Bhubaneswar and is causing several accidents both minor and major, the Commissionerate Police has identified nearly 200 such spots wherein motorists often indulge in wrong side driving and out of them 60 are critical areas, informed Traffic DCP Sagarika Nath here today.
"Our focus will be particularly enforcement to stop wrong side driving in these 60 critical spots. Because this is causing accidents may be minor today but could be major in the coming days. That will be our targeted approach," said Nath briefing newsmen here.
The Traffic DCP said that in the last three days it has been observed that maximum people were found wearing helmets, using seat belts, following zebra crossing rules and were not violating red light (stop signal).
"In the last three days, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack combined we have issued challans to nearly 2,000 violators. Some of them have paid on the spot while e-challans have been despatched to the remaining. Kiosks have been opened at the Commissionerate Police office here and at the ACP (Traffic) office in Cuttack where people are depositing penalties levied on them for traffic rule violations," she added.
